The Academy of Aerospace and Engineering is one of 17 magnet schools managed by the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) in Greater Hartford. CREC Schools provide students across the region with the chance to identify what fascinates them and pursue it through opportunities that they won't find anywhere else.

Students interested in attending CREC Schools apply through the Regional School Choice Office (RSCO). RSCO serves Hartford and suburban students who are interested in public school choice options in the Greater Hartford Region. Any student who resides in Connecticut can apply to our tuition-free schools by following a simple process.

RSCO manages the application and placement process for magnet schools in the Greater Hartford Region. Prospective students must apply through RSCO’s easy-to-use online application platform that allows parents/guardians to manage applications for all their children. Families only need to create one RSCO account and should use the same account each year to submit applications. RSCO on-time application deadline is March 15, 2024.
RSCO Extended application period is from April 22, 2024 through July 19, 2024.

Placement Priorities for the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering
The following priorities are used in the placement process and can increase the chance of a placement if our school has available seats. To receive priority, you must apply during the on-time application period and make the school your first choice. Applicants receive priority in the order listed below.

Placement Announcements
Placement announcements are made in early April and continue biweekly, as seats are made available, through September. No magnet school placements are made after October 1.
