What do you call an evening showcasing student
talents along with a festival of foods, arts and music from around the world? Our
first ever International Coffeehouse and Scholastic Book Sale. This year we have combined two Academy
traditions, International Night and Talent show Coffeehouse, into one great
evening and we’ve even thrown in a Scholastic Book Fair! This evening of
festivities will be held on Friday April
20th in the auditorium, Cafeteria and main atrium at The
Academy of Aerospace & Engineering and The Greater Hartford Academy of
Mathematics and Science building in Windsor from 5:00 pm to 9:00pm
We would
like to encourage all of our talented students to participate in the
coffeehouse, whether you play an instrument, sing, juggle, tell jokes or
whatever your talent is please sign up to share that talent with your friends.
All you need to do is go to http://tinyurl.com/coffeehouse2018signup and sign up wit the talent you
are going to do. Then keep your eyes open for more specific information.
One of
the things that make this such a successful event is that our AAE students and families
are always so generous in sharing the foods of their varied ethnicities and
families. The dining tables are organized by world region. We ask that those
who join us bring a tray of their special or favorite dish that represents their
heritage to share with our community (no alcohol, please). Also, we are
asking for a copy of the recipe to be provided next to the food to ensure
individuals with allergies are not negatively impacted as well as individual
who have specific meat restrictions.
We would
also like to encourage all to wear traditional apparel. Additionally, we are
asking families to consider sharing an optional cultural activity or craft
that could be shared with all (examples: Origami, henna tattooing, dance,
etc.). Please email aae.nhsinternationalnight@gmail.com with details of your activity so
we can ensure a fun and safe evening.
We plan on having fun activities for both the young and young at
heart.
Finally,
we will also be sponsoring a Scholastic Book Fair in the main Atrium. Families
are encouraged to browse the books that will be available. You can also place
book orders online as well if you need a little more time to make your decision.
If you have any
