So you want to be a more involved parent but it is tough getting in to school for events in the evening. While we would love to have every parent at every event we know that in today’s over-scheduled world it is next to impossible.  Wouldn’t it be great if you could just check in from home and take part in these meetings through your computer? Well you are in luck! The CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering has been experimenting with a variety of “live stream” broadcasting tools to help encourage parent involvement and spread useful information.

One of the most common live streaming tools we have used is called “The CUBE.com”. We have used “TheCUBE.com” for a number of events ranging from concerts to PTO meetings and special presentations.  When we use The CUBE.com for a broadcast we will send an email link prior to the broadcast so that you can follow along from home. For example the link for the most recent October 23rd PTO meeting is Http://thecube.com/e/756046.   TheCUBE.com also allows you to make live text message comments or ask questions during the broadcast which can be responded to by the video participants. In the case that you miss an event you can use the same link to view the video for up to a month after the livestream date.

If you have ideas on how we can improve home to school communication we would be more than glad to hear them. Are you using a technology communications tool at work, or someplace else, that you find effective or fun? Let us know about it. We are always open to testing out new ways to communicate with our AAE family and helping to ensure the best experience possible for our students and parents. If you have any suggestions, comments or questions please contact Mr. Jerry Crystal our Theme Coach, web guru and communications liaison at jcrystal@crec.org.
